CONCORD, N.C. – The WKA Vega Speedway Pavement’s Chapel Hill Grand Nationals, on tap August 10-12 at Chapel Hill Raceway in southwest New York, boasts a new format for WKA and it’s Pavement competitors, one that features Animal-powered classes for all age groups on Saturday and a return to Flathead (Raptor) divisions for all age groups on Sunday.
The weekend will kick off with a special 100-lap Animal Champ Heavy Money Race Friday night, which has posted a guaranteed $1,300 purse, lap bonuses and other contingencies.
If you’re interested in sponsoring a lap for the Money Race, contact Joe Hodge at 516-567-1122.
Another new feature to the 2012 Pavement Grand Nationals is a special local-option champ-kart class that pits a variety of 4-cycle engines against one another.
The Sr Champ Mixed division, which will run both Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Nationals, is open to Briggs Animal, Briggs flathead, AKRA Clone and Briggs LO206 engines. Animals and flatheads will run at 425-pound minimum weight, Clone at 410 and LO206 at 390.
In addition to the Money Race and Sr Champ Mixed events, a full slate of national classes is on tap for Briggs Animal and flathead divisions, including flat- and champ-kart classes for Sportsman 1, Sportsman 2, Junior and Senior categories.
The prestigious Grand National Eagle trophies will be awarded to all national class feature winners.
