CONCORD, N.C. – Spirits are up on the WKA National Road Racing scene as the series has seen a rebound in participation throughout the 2012 season.
Many road racers have noticed an array of various special awards and prizes presented at the last couple Woodbridge Kart Club-hosted nationals this summer at VIR and Summit Point.
The awards and new programs will continue this December at Daytona KartWeek, where a number of promotions for different classes are in the works to give back to the racers and teams spending valuable, hard-earned money and time to compete at one of karting’s highest levels.
The following racers won awards this past weekend at the Summit Point WKC Memorial Cup.
Virginia’s Jermie Bolt won Best Appearing Enduro Kart and Massachusetts’ Jim Sorrentino won Best Appearing Sprint Kart. Both received a special cup trophy for fielding their fine-looking go-karts.
Aaron Snyder and Clark Gaynor Sr. each won a set of VEGA tires for their wins in TaG Final 2 and Stock Leopard Sprint Final 2. Series sponsor TS Racing donated the set of VEGA’s.
Clark Gaynor Jr.’s pair of Stock Honda triumphs won him his choice of VEGA or MG tires, sponsored by DRT Racing and Creative Products, Inc.
Courtney Atkinson won Friday’s Yamaha Sportsman Special Money Race, sponsored by Safe Harbour Wine Storage and Bolt’s Saw Service. Atkinson cashed in on the $300 winner’s share of the purse, which paid back through the top five.
WKA sends its appreciation and gratitude to all the sponsors backing these programs.
Look for announcements via WKA’s Pit Board this fall regarding more special purses, prizes and awards at this December’s Road Racing Championships at Daytona.
