CONCORD, N.C. – Senior Pro Gas Animal racers once again will have three big opportunities to take home some valuable cash prizes at the Carolina Clash presented by Jammer Clutches & Performance North, the 2013 RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup season closer this October 4-6 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C.
In its inaugural season, entry counts continue to rise in the Senior Pro Gas Animal divisions in the Gold Cup. A season high 20 karts started Senior Pro Gas Animal 1 on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Pittsburgh, and WKA is working to ensure another strong turnout is on hand for the season-closer in South Carolina.
Kershaw’s Friday night Animal Heavy Money Race, open to Pro Gas and alcohol-powered Animals, will boast a $300 prize for the first Pro Gas racer across the stripe. Second-place will take home $200 and third-place will net $100.
The regular 75 percent payback will go to the top-five finishers, no matter which engine they’re running. At Pittsburgh Tony Wimmer won on an alcohol Animal while Gary Lawson was the Pro Gas winner to take home the lion’s share of the purse.
Saturday’s Senior Pro Gas Animal 1 points class will again pay $300 to the winner with $200 going to second and $100 to third.
Sunday’s Senior Pro Gas Animal 2 will serve as the weekend’s headliner with a cool $500 going to the victor. Second and third will again net $200 and $100, respectively.
Officials developed this purse structure in an attempt to pay back to the top-three with the goal that several racers collect a paycheck to help with their expenses. One lucky racer could take home over $1,100 for winning each of the three races, certainly a nice boost before heading into the offseason.
New York’s Michael Fauci and Ohio’s Gary Lawson scored the top prizes in the last two Gold Cup nationals at Camden, Ohio, and Wampum, Pa.
At the Baker Racing Engines Nationals at Camden, Fauci took home over $750 for his Pro Gas win in Friday’s Money Race and his overall triumph in Saturday and Sunday’s Senior Pro Gas Animal points classes, which he swept.
At the GT Machine Grand Nationals at Pittsburgh, Lawson swept the weekend in Pro Gas to earn $1,500 plus a $500 bonus for winning all three races.
Pre-registration is currently open for the Carolina Clash presented by Jammer Clutches & Performance North.
