CONCORD, N.C. – World Karting Association officials have nearly finalized the 2013 RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series schedule of events. While one date has not yet been determined, the upcoming year’s schedule is close enough to announce.
The Gold Cup will run a five-race national tour for the second consecutive year.
The series has returned to a 4-cycle-only tour. The X-30 TaG classes and Komet Sportsman have been removed from the 2013 class lineup. The 2-cycle classes’ replacements are the Pro Gas divisions that were announced via WKA’s Pit Board on November 7.
WKA is proud to announce that the California-based RLV Tuned Exhaust Products has re-signed as the series sponsor. The 2013 season will mark RLV’s second straight year as the Gold Cup title sponsor.
The only event date that is not finalized is the 2013 season opener at the 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida. The series will kick off at Jacksonville in March for the third consecutive year. The weekend in March has not been determined; however, the event will most likely run the first or second weekend of March.
A Pit Board release will be posted once the Jacksonville date is finalized with North Florida Kart Club officials.
Round two will come Memorial Day weekend – May 24-26 – at Michiana Raceway Park near South Bend, Indiana. The Memorial Day weekend MRP show will mark the second straight year the Gold Cup has visited the South Bend facility.
The Gold Cup will return to Camden, Ohio’s G&J Kartway for round three July 5-7. The national series makes its return to southwest Ohio after a year hiatus.
Round four will serve as the 2013 Gold Cup Grand Nationals August 23-25 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania.
The fifth and final round of the series will see the Gold Cup make a return to Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway for the first time since 2004. The series will visit The Rock's historic infield sprint track October 4-6.
