Sept. 25, 2012 - The final round of the Manufactures Cup Series concluded on a high note securing three podium finishes, and yet another championship in TaG Final 2 for the Checkered Motorsports team.  This has marked a total of 5 championships for the team in 3 years.

In Komet Piston Port Jr. Heavy, Andrew Bujdoso had a solid qualifying run placing 14th for the pre-final.   With much shuffling in the top 15, A. Bujdoso managed to finish 13th in pre-final.  The final event allowed the young driver to maintain his position and finished the day in 13th.

Komet Piston Jr. Lite he found some speed running as high as the eighth spot until contact forced him to finish 19th with bent components.

The TaG competition was a thriller event throughout the weekend.  Zack Busch and Robert Bujdoso put on a show in TaG Final 1 as both drivers passed a total of 10 karts in the pre-final.  Adjustments to the #32 machine of R. Bujdoso allowed him to finish third in the Final while posting fast lap of the race.  Zack Busch posted his best finish in his PCR just missing the podium with a sixth place finish.   Robert Bujdoso in Leopard missed his qualifying setup which put him in the top 15.  The Woltjer powered leopard came alive in the final running in the 7th spot until an on track incident with Robby Seward ended his run and another opportunity on a national title.

J.P. Southern Jr. ended his WKA Manufacturers Cup Series event with strong results posting a total of 4 top ten finishes and a podium result in Cadet Final 2.  Southern Jr. had a rough qualifying run in Cadet Final 2 put him in the 19th position.  The Checkered Motorsports crew made adjustments throughout the pre-final and final where he would pass a total of 15 karts to finish fourth.  Southern Jr. displayed consistency in Yamaha Sportsman 1&2 finishing seventh and 10th in the Final event.

Weston Moon and Tom Gerstner made great strides throughout the weekend with both drivers gaining time every session.  Weston Moon in Yamaha Supercan Heavy qualified 9th.  Moon in the pre-final advanced to third by the opening laps until contact kept him from contesting for a top 5 finish.  The Final the young pilot weaved his way through the field finishing 13th and after starting 21st.  TaG Masters competitor Tom Gerstner finished the weekend with a 10th place finish in TaG Masters 1, but unfortunately had a DNF in TaG Master 2 due to brake issues.

Csaba Bujdoso states, “The weekend turned out great!  The work and dedication that we have put into the PCR brand has paid of this year.  We had the speed to clinch three national titles, but settled with one.  Our drivers did a fantastic job all together and we will be that much better for next year’s Manufacturers Cup campaign.”

The team will be contesting in the Florida Winter Tour, WKA Manufacturers Cup Series, Great Lakes Sprint Series, and the Pittsburgh International Race Complex.  Tech support, transportation, and arrive and drive opportunities are available.
